Job huntin’

Posted on Friday, June 12, 2009 in Uncategorized

Alright, I’ve been trying to find a full-time job, for at least 10 or 11 bucks an hour for over two months now, and I’ve got Bubkes. I just had an interview yesterday for a UXO Tech II position right here in beautiful Colorado. But… big but here. It seems that, to work in an Uncontrolled Hazardous Material site as a civilian, I’m required to have a 40 HAZWOPER certification. Never got one in the military, didn’t even hear about it till I got out. It’s a minimum 400 dollar course, online or in a class setting. I’m unemployed, I can’t afford that, and no UXO company is willing to pay for it to hire me. Fuck.

So, I’m hoping this company is willing to help me out with this. I don’t mind signing some contract saying I’ll work for them for a certain amount of time, or pay them back the cost for the Certification.

I’ve actually been sending out my Resume to a lot of entry level jobs, anything that I might have general skill in. I went to an interview today for a meat-packing plant. I NEED WORK. I really don’t want to have to sell my Xterra (love that SUV).

Six years down the crapper, it seems now. Damn.
